Prayers
A call for a prayer life, affects every aspect of our lives, whether it be at home, at school, in the workplace or in society. “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thes. 5:17), advises St. Paul the Apostle. In this way we are relating our faith to life. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with your strength” (Deut. 6:5). We offer these prayers wishing you peace:
Prayer for Peace
God of peace,bring your peace to our world.
Turn to your way of love those whose hearts and minds
are consumed with hatred. Our need for peace is great.We need peace in our hearts and minds,
peace in our families,
peace in our churches,
peace in our city streets,
peace in our towns and states,
peace in our nation and peace between nations,
peace on our beautiful earth,
peace that surpasses human understanding.
God of peace, have mercy on us.
6th tone Theotokion, hymn to the Mother of God sung in the tone of the week at vespers and matins
O gentle Protectress of Christians,unfailing Mediatrix before the Creator,
do not despise the prayerful voices of sinners.
In your goodness,
hasten to assist us who trustfully cry out to you.
Inspire us to prayer,
and hasten to hear our supplication.
Intercede always,
Mother of God,
in behalf of those who honor you.
Prayer to the Virgin ( from the Liturgy of St John Chrysostom )
It is truly proper to glorify you,
O Mother of God,
the ever-blessed, immaculate,
and the Mother of our God.
who a virgin gave birth to God the Word,
you,
truly the Theotokos,
we magnify.
Preparation prayers before the liturgy
O Mother of God, fount of mercy,deem us worthy of your compassion.
Look upon a sinful people.
As always, show your power.
For placing our trust in you,
we cry out to you: “Hail!”
as once did Gabriel the Prince of Angels.
Prayer for Priest
Oh Jesus eternal Priest, Look down with love thy priests.
Fill them with a burning zeal for the conversion of sinners.
Keep them within the shelter of thy Sacred Heart, where none can harm them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands which daily touch thy sacred Body.
Keep unsullied, their lips purpled with the most precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts sealed with the sublime marks of the glorious priesthood.
Let the Holy Love surround them and shield them from the world's contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom they minister on earth,
be one day their joy and consolation in heaven. Amen!

Oh, my Lord and Savior, support me in that hour in the strong arms of Your Sacraments, and by the fresh fragrance of Your consolations. Let the absolving words be said over me, and the holy oil sign and seal me, and Your own Body be my food, and Your Blood my sprinkling; and let my sweet Mother, Mary, breathe on me, and my Angel whisper peace to me, and my glorious Saints smile upon me; that in them all, and through them all, I may receive the gift of perseverance, and die, as I desire to live, in Your faith, in Your Church, in Your service, and in Your love.
